About the Site

We are a Camping & Caravanning Club certified Hideaway Site offering unmatched views of the Helford River. A family run site for over 30 years, our west facing aspect means we're the prime spot for catching the sunset at the end of a busy day exploring Cornwall. There are 15 pitches in total; 5 caravan pitches & a further 10 pitches available for trailer and ridge tents, 10 of which offer the option of electric hookup. We have on-site facilities, including 3 flush toilets, gents urinals, 2 hot showers (run on solar power!), a chemical disposal point and one hard-standing pitch available upon request. 

 

Seasonal Opening

Helford River Camping is open from the start of the Easter holidays, until the 30th September, with access to full site facilities. However if you would like to camp outside of these times we may be able to accommodate you, if the weather allows, and providing limited facilities.

 

Camping and Caravanning Club

We are a "Members Only Certificated Hideaway Site", non-members will need to sign up ahead of making a booking with us. Information on membership can be found on the Camping & Caravanning Club Website Here. Membership is currently £48 for the year and gives you access to 1,300 Certificated Sites (CS) along with other benefits. Helford River Camping is regularly visited by a Camping & Caravanning Club Officer. They last visited us in June 2022 and were very pleased with our site. Local Amenities

• Gear Farm Pasty Co across the road. Open from 10 - 2pm Tues-Sat with amazing pasties and sausage rolls (we recommend booking them in advance as they often sell out!) & a fresh veg stand, full of produce grown 30seconds from site, so absolutely no air miles! 

• Mawgan Stores incl. bottled gas, Post Office and cashpoint - 1mile. Very well stocked stores with lots of local produce.

• Two very good food pubs near by:

  • The Ship Inn, Mawgan - 1mile - 

  • The Prince of Wales in Newtown - 1.8miles 

• Supermarket / Laundrette / Indoor Heated Pool (Helston) 6miles.

• Sandy Beaches:

  • Church Cove (Gunwalloe, National Trust) - 6.5miles

  • Kynance Cove (arrive early to guarantee parking, National Trust) - 10.5miles

  • Poldhu (National Trust) - 6.5miles

• Dog Friendly Beaches:

  • Dollar Cove (Gunwalloe, National Trust) - 6.5miles

  • Kennack Sands East - 8.5miles

  • Bosahan Cove - 4mile drive & 1mile walk along the coast path.
